Tolu Joaquim

Tolu comes to the Center for Transformative Healing as a researcher and therapist by way of East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, where she is a doctoral student in their Medical Family Therapy program. Tolu’s clinical interests include working with couples, women, children, integrated care, BIPOC and immigrant populations, and biopsychosocial-spiritual health.

Tolu’s research interests include integrated care, improving quality of life for international medical students and residents, promoting awareness, reducing stigmatization of seeking mental health
services in immigrant populations, couple satisfaction, and fostering relationship resilience.

Tolu works with several evidence-based treatments including Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Narrative Therapy. She is fluent in both English and Yoruba.
